10 points to the 10 Ring
- Place your drawing fingers onto the bowstring at 90° to the arrow.
Slide the fingers in to touch the arrow nock lightly on both sides.
Raise the bow into the shooting position.
- Drawing elbow must be up to eye-level before the start of the draw
and it must remain up whilst drawing back.
- Knuckles, fingers and wrist of drawing hand must form a straight line.
- Keep the bow shoulder down and as far away from your chin as possible
while drawing back.
- Do not force your bow-arm elbow over-straight. Being relaxed is better.
- Your head must be kept still whilst drawing back.
- The draw-path of your fingers is from a straight point along the line
of sight between your eyes and the arrow-rest, up to eye-level and down
under your chin.
- Anchor position is with the bowstring firm into your face and your
drawing elbow well back.
- Maintain the aim, bow hand and back elbow pressure in line through
the shot and beyond as the arrow flies. The release will simply slip
away smoothly and cleanly and your body will 'follow through' naturally.
- To shoot the GOLD, learn to follow through. Concentrate on retaining
the full draw/release position with the bow arm up, the head still and
the release hand sliding along your neck till the arrow has landed.
Run through what you have done whether you have executed the shot to
your satisfaction or not. If the arrow was shot well and strikes where
you wanted it to strike, then enjoy it, rest and then prepare for your
next shot. If it wasn't so good, that's being human - learn from it
and move on. But don't berate yourself for errors; just focus on 'next
time'.
